Lunch seminar: Svetlana Sabelfeld

Research profile seminar

The study explores how European directive (2014/95/EU) on non-financial information (NFI) influences corporate reporting practice. The EU directive on NFI is one of the first transnational initiatives that emerged as a response to demands for more transparency from business by the public.

To rebuild trust and harmonize regulation for reporting NFI across the EU countries, the member states transposed the Directive into their own national laws. For example, in 2016, the Directive was transposed into Swedish Annual Report Law (Årsredovisningslagen). Starting from 2018, both public and private firms reaching certain criteria must publicly issue a non-financial report as a part of their annual or sustainability reporting, focusing on the policies, processes and outcomes of sustainability work related to environmental, social, employee-, human rights-, corruption- and board diversity issues. We performed a case study of early-stage implementation of the new regulation in a Swedish construction company and would like to share our preliminary results at the seminar.
